Hemorrhoids (also called hemroids), is an irritating condition which occurs due to the inflammation of the blood vessels in the hemorrhoid tissue resulting in sensitive hemorrhoid tissue which may also bleed. The extent and severity of hemorrhoid symptoms varies in each individual case. Thus the list of hemorrhoid symptoms you have has to be evaluated based on the type of hemorrhoid you have and how inflamed it has become.
There are two main types of hemorrhoids seem depending on where they are located- external and internal hemorrhoids. The hemorrhoid symptoms may be accompanied with other conditions such as anal fissures, abscesses, itching, increased sensitivity, and irritation in the anal and rectal area.
If you think that you have hemorrhoids, make note of the symptoms elaborated below.
The most common hemorrhoid symptom is pain. Patients suffering from hemorrhoids experience pain the anal and rectal region while walking, sitting or standing up. The pain gets aggravated when patients pass stool and if the stool is dry it tends to irritate the condition even more. It is in your best interest to find a remedy that can quickly alleviate your hemorrhoid symptoms as soon as possible.
Another common hemorrhoid symptom seen is the level of discomfort in the anal region. This gets aggravated when you have to pass stool as the stools tend to rub against the hemorroidal region.
The third common hemorrhoid symptom is the inflammation seen in the affected area. Increased swelling may due to increased pressure and straining at the time of a bowel movement or due to lifting heavy weights, being overweight or at the time of pregnancy. Though the hemorrhoid symptoms cause due to the latter causes cannot be avoided, there are certain creams available that can reduce the hemorrhoid symptoms to bring you relief.
Internal hemorrhoid symptoms in a majority of cases include burning and itching around the anus, which are visible as bumps in the anal area, similar to “diaper rash”.
The stools in case of hemorrhoids are highly foul smelling and often accompanied by bleeding.
Aggravated hemorrhoid symptoms include the protrusion of internal hemorrhoids outside the body, especially after a bowel movement. These prolapsed hemorrhoids are a result of straining and pressure exerted on the affected area. Prolapsed hemorrhoids are an advanced condition and a fall out of the excessive strain on the anal muscles while passing stool.
Another common hemorrhoid symptom is bleeding seen from the hemorrhoid tissues especially during passing stool. Blood from the hemorrhoids is always fresh and hence bright red in color. If the blood is dark red, dark brown or black in color it indicates another medical problem and should not be ignored. .
You should pay close attention to all the hemorrhoid symptoms you experience so that you can help determine the severity of the condition you are suffering from. Internal hemorrhoids are more difficult to diagnose than external hemorrhoids because they are mainly located inside the anal walls. Internal hemorrhoids are visible only if they protrude outside the anus due to increased straining during a bowel movement, and then termed prolapsed hemorrhoids. External hemorrhoids, however, are pea-size bumps visible on the skin outside the anal wall and visible to the naked eye, and can also be felt when wiping yourself with a tissue. The range of hemorrhoid symptoms varies considerably from person to person and depends on the severity of the condition. Even if you diagnose the condition yourself, it is best to consult a doctor to confirm the diagnosis and discuss the possible treatment options.
